Israel the unhinged
I am very sad to see Israel responding in what appears to be the only way they know how - that of total disproportionate destruction. Far from resolving the situation it clearly will turn generations of Lebanese and countless others in to lifelong Jew-haters, terrorists and bombers. That simple piece of logic is lost entirely on the butchers who are so often in charge in Israel. The Americans (and shamefully the Brits too) are prone to stand idly by at times like this, as if Israel has some kind of carte blanche in devastation that ranks only slightly less than the US itself. The Americans of course have a strong Jewish lobby and a military complex who always delight in seeing their weapons in action, along with a president who always has been a clueless grinning imbecile painfully out of his depth.
The UN observers yesterday were bombed despite repeatedly (10 times I believe) asking not to be. And the Americans argue over the wording of security council condemnations, scared shitless at offending Israel. It would be laughable if it weren't for the fact that we're talking about murder. Kim Howells, it seems, was a lone shout in the darkness and misery of British foreign policy, alone in condemning what really needed to be condemned, by whoever was doing it. It appears that we really do not give a shit, which clearly is bad for east-west relations, bad for humanity, bad for the very way we look at ourselves. As if there were something decent or human in letting this go on.
With Israel there seems no logic in much of what they do. Bombing people having a picnic in the Palestinian territories a few months ago then claiming immediately it wasn't possible that it was them, despite their other bombs landing close by. Or, even worse perhaps, is asking forcivilians to leave a village then attacking them with rockets on their way out. That is spectacular evil in anyone's book. Any other country would be roundly condemned for this behaviour, along with sanctions imposed, along with possible invasion..
Of course Hezbollah are vermin who should not be allowed to act with impunity and of course Israel has a right to defend itself, but not at the expense of hundreds of entirely innocent civilians along with a country's infrastructure. All of this makes Hezbollah stronger, which I suppose was their primary objective. Israel, instead of acting with restraint and humanity, acted in the basest way imaginable. This is contemptible coming from a dictatorship, moreso from a country which professes to be at all civilised.
